3. Hosting by STRATO (server log files)
This website is hosted by STRATO (Germany). When you access the website, STRATO processes server log data such as:
- IP address (for attack detection/defense)
- Date and time of access
- Requested page/file (request)
- Referrer URL
- Browser/device information (user agent)
- Status codes / transferred data volume
Purpose: technical delivery, stability, and security (e.g., defense against attacks).
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interests).
Retention: According to STRATO’s information, visitor IP addresses are stored for attack detection for a maximum of 7 days, then deleted/anonymized accordingly.
Processing on behalf: Where required, a data processing agreement (Art. 28 GDPR) is in place with the hosting provider.
4. Contact
If you contact us by email, we process your data (e.g., email address and message content) to handle your request.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in responding) or Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR if your request relates to (pre-)contractual matters.
Retention: until your request has been fully handled; longer only if statutory retention obligations apply.
5. Jetpack (Automattic) – features, stats, cookies
This website uses the WordPress plugin Jetpack (provided by Automattic/WordPress.com). Depending on which Jetpack modules are enabled, usage data may be processed and cookies may be set (in particular for statistics/analytics or interaction features).
Possible data categories (depending on module): usage/access data (e.g., pages viewed, timestamps), technical information (browser/device), potentially IP address, and cookie identifiers. Jetpack describes its cookies and features in its documentation.
Jetpack Stats (if enabled): Jetpack may trigger requests to WordPress.com/Automattic (e.g., a tracking pixel) to generate statistics. According to Jetpack’s privacy guidance, stats logs (which may contain visitor IP addresses) are retained to provide the feature (for example, 28 days for stats logs as described by Jetpack).
Legal basis:
– For strictly necessary features: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.
– For analytics/tracking cookies or similar technologies, consent is typically required (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR) if they are not strictly necessary.
Note: No separate cookie consent tool is currently used. If Jetpack modules are enabled that set non-essential cookies/enable tracking, this should be implemented in a compliant way via appropriate settings or a consent tool.

6. Blog comments
If the comment function is enabled, the data you enter (e.g., name, comment text) and potentially technical data (e.g., IP address, user agent) may be processed. This serves publication of comments and abuse/spam prevention.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (operation and protection of the website) or Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR where consent is collected.
Retention: comments are generally stored as long as the related post remains online, unless deletion is requested or moderation/legal reasons require removal.
7. External content / links
No third-party content (e.g., YouTube, maps, externally hosted fonts) is embedded. Links to external websites lead to third-party services only after you click them.
